Our staff:

Carlo Bova

No one in Australia has had more retail guitar experience than CB.

How it all began!

Carlo’s father wanted him to be a piano accordion player, like every good Italian boy was back in the 70’s. Carlo just wanted to be a guitar player, Carlo won the debate. (I was told it was due to a foot stomping tantrum in Downtown Music, which was then called Moreshi’s Trading Company)

Carlo, asked for a job and began working in the store after school, at the time he financed his own private lessons and after a few months a new guitar(a Gibson Les Paul Custom in Burgundy). Carlo began working in the store as a ten year old; he is still here, some 35 years later.

I’m extremely thankful that Carlo won the father/son argument: As I know nothing about selling piano accordions.

Andrea Idato

Andrea is our resident lefty, a fine guitar player with an equally fine taste in guitars and has the guitars to prove it.

Andrea has a solid & illustrious history in music retail being an integral part of Allan’s Music resurgence and he now (thankfully for us) calls Downtown Music home.

Andrea is also a very fine tennis player, although it is alarming to see him playing air- tennis in front of the mirror with a guitar.

Mark Evans

Our vintage guy and aspiring grumpy old man.

Mark was recently heard chastising a fellow staff member because they were selling a beautiful 1955 Gretsch Synchromatic. “That’s not for sale; it’s the only thing here older than me”.

If you can spot him behind his security blanket of a computer, SPEAK VERY LOUDLY, because he is as deaf as a post, courtesy of getting blasted for years by the Young Brothers in AC/DC.

Aaron Zol

The youngest member of our staff, still getting bullied, particularly by Andrea, who has made an art form out of trying to eat Aaron’s lunch, made with love by Aaron’s Nonna. Andrea better hope Nonna doesn’t find out.

Aaron is also a happening guitar player, as are all the staff at Downtown, with the possible exception of Mark but he is trying… very trying.
